sculpting and molding to fiberglass production, assembly and hand-painted finishing, the project demonstrates the surface quality and consistency required for high-end branded display installations.
Large-Scale Custom Fiberglass Character Sculptures
SOARPEAN manufactured these large character sculptures as custom display pieces for a client project.
The figures combine a stylized human character with detailed accessories and a large base. Their substantial size made fiberglass (FRP) an ideal manufacturing material, providing the strength required for commercial display while keeping the sculptures significantly lighter than many solid materials.
For this type of character sculpture, however, producing the basic shape is only the beginning. The quality of the finished piece depends heavily on the accuracy of the fiberglass construction and, especially, the surface preparation and painting.

From Mold to Fiberglass Production
Each character consists of multiple complex three-dimensional forms, including the oversized head, sunglasses, clothing, arms, hands and base.
After the forms and molds were prepared, the individual fiberglass components were produced separately before being assembled into the complete sculpture.
Working in sections also allowed our production team to control the shape, structural strength and surface quality of each component before final assembly.
Surface Quality Is Critical
Large fiberglass sculptures can easily reveal imperfections, particularly across broad curved surfaces.
Before painting, the FRP surfaces therefore went through repeated filling, sanding and preparation. Joint lines, surface irregularities and small imperfections had to be carefully corrected to create a smooth and consistent foundation for the final coating.
This preparation is particularly important on the head and black clothing areas, where lighting can make even minor surface defects visible.
Detailed Hand-Painted Finish
Painting was another important part of the project.
The character combines several distinctly different finishes: natural skin tones, white hair, black sunglasses and clothing, together with smaller painted details.
Our team carefully controlled the color separation, edges, surface smoothness and gloss levels so that the different components remained visually clean and consistent.
The result was a crisp, high-quality finish that preserved the original character design while providing the durability required for professional display use.
Consistency Across Multiple Sculptures
Producing one good sculpture is different from producing a series of matching sculptures.
As shown during production, multiple units were manufactured simultaneously. This required careful control of dimensions, assembly, colors and finishing so that every completed figure maintained a consistent appearance.
For branded projects, this repeatability is particularly important when sculptures are installed in different locations but are expected to represent the same visual identity.
From Factory Production to Final Installation
The completed sculptures were eventually installed as prominent display features for the client.
The finished installation demonstrates an important aspect of custom fiberglass manufacturing: a large character that begins as separate molded FRP components in the factory must ultimately appear as one clean, seamless and professionally finished sculpture in its final environment.
For SOARPEAN, fiberglass fabrication and painting are therefore treated as parts of the same manufacturing process. Good molding provides the correct form, while careful surface preparation and finishing determine the final visual quality.
Custom Fiberglass Character Manufacturing
SOARPEAN has manufactured custom fiberglass products since 2006. We produce large character sculptures, brand mascots, retail display props, product replicas and other custom FRP structures based on customer drawings, 3D files and design references.
For custom character projects, our capabilities include prototyping, mold making, fiberglass production, assembly, surface preparation, painting, quality inspection and export packaging.
If you are developing a custom character or large fiberglass sculpture, send us your 3D files, drawings, dimensions, quantities and finishing requirements for evaluation.
